All'epoca nessuno si preoccupò di studiare in modo approfondito le interazioni delle forze aerodinamiche sul ponte, tanto disastrose in passato per ponti sospesi flessibili assai più leggeri e corti, semplicemente si riteneva che tali azioni non avrebbero intaccato una struttura di dimensioni imponenti come il Tacoma Narrows Bridge. A distruggere il ponte furono le oscillazioni torsionali amplificate, non da un fenomeno di risonanza, come erroneamente descritto su alcuni testi (obsoleti) di fisica e universalmente accettato, nella realtà si instaurò una oscillazione aeroelastica autoeccitata, ovvero si verificò una instabilità aeroelastica. Nell'ambito dell'ingegneria del vento ovvero nell'ingegneria civile strutturale i fenomeni aeroelastici vengono attualmente classificati in quattro categorie: Fenomeni di aeroelasticità dinamica nell'ingegneria civile strutturale: 1 - distacco dei vortici (vortex shedding) e fenomeni di sincronizzazione (lock-in) 2 - le oscillazioni galoppanti (galloping) 3 - il flutter e il buffeting (fenomeno dovuto alla turbolenza, vento turbolento) Fenomeni di aeroelasticità statica nell'ingegneria civile strutturale: 4 - la divergenza torsionale (torsional divergence) Spesso è estremamente <b>...</b> |
